A little Betty Boop History.
In the 1930's Max Fleischer created an animated cartoon character named Betty Boop. She has been in comic strips, movies and appears on merchandising items. She was originally modeled after Helen Kane and then Clara Bow and was a French poodle.
In 1932 Max Fleischer decided to give her a human image by replacing her ears with hoop earrings and a small nose. Her voice was performed by a wide variety of voice actresses. The most noted was Mae Questel who was Betty’s voice from 1931-1998.
Ahead of her time, she continues to be known as one of the most popular cartoon characters ever created.
